Alpacas can protect smaller livestock from small predators such as foxes. Using a castrated male or an unbred female is the best choice. Alpacas are always alert since they are also vulnerable to predatorial attack. They chase and stomp away would be attackers. They have good speed, spit and make high-pitch noises to communicate issues.
